INTERESTS
& ACTIVITIES.
Since 1994 I have been involved with the ongoing development of
'POTFEST' the annual potters market in Penrith, Cumbria, probably
the largest International ceramics market in the U.K. and from
1997 also been involved in the Scottish 'POTFEST.
Having contact with other Potters and the promotion of studio
ceramics to the general public.
Making and selling quality ceramics.
Building a new workshop and showroom, including gas fired Kilns.
1996 - Organisation and presentation of a kiln building course in
Cumbria. This involved using my expertise as a potter, kiln
builder and organiser.
1996 - Built a theatrical kiln for a local arts company. This
fulfilled the brief of providing both a visual and physical
impact on the audience. As part of the drama I portrayed a kiln
stoker and fired the kiln throughout the performance.
1996 - Organised a sponsored 'Potters Market' and exhibition in
Newcastle-u-Lyme.
An
active member of a group of artists involved with public arts
projects within the City of Stoke on Trent.
1995 - 1997 an elected committee member running the Midland
Potters Association.
1995 - on going - Playground Supervisory Assistant at our local
Primary school.
1997 - Worked on an arts project aimed at introducing a group of
year 4 children to clay. They designed and produced an 'entrance'
to their classroom making relief tiles using their study
topic - the Greeks. I have also been working with children of
varying ages at our local primary school.
1997 - Attended by invitation the annual Europese Keramiekmarkt
in Maaseik, Belgium.
1997 - Work first appearing on the Internet.
1997 - Member of a potters co-operative selling work through a
city centre outlet in Worcester.
1998 - Consolidating workshop sales and concentrating on building
work.
1999 - Demonstration of teapot making at Petworth House, owned by the National Trust

2000 - New Showroom opened in April.
2000 - Tile project in 'The Close' Junior School.
2000 - Demonstration of teapot making and talk to Leek Arts Club.
2001 - Making new pots, experimenting with glaze combinations.
2002 - Attended by invitation the annual Dutch potters market
'KERAMISTO'.
Ceramics purchased by the Museum of Gent for a permanent
collection.
2003 - Completed the construction of the new catenary arch kiln
for the studio.
Attended by invitation the annual Dutch potters market
'KERAMISTO'. Also travelled to Cordes sur Ciel in
southern
France to take part in the first large International Ceramics
market held in France.
2004 - Attended by invitation Gouda Keramiek Dagen and Keramisto,
International potters markets in Holland.
